Testimony: “Live like his child”

A testimony is a personal story that someone shares to describe the ways that God has worked in their life. We have a testimony because of what Jesus has done for us.

This testimony was given by Courtney at her baptism in August 2017.

Courtney started her journey in 2016, was baptized in August if 2017.  She has since moved to Northern BC and continues to do her best at living life and raising her family based on her faith and love for God.

“My family at Princeton Baptist have inspired me to make faith-based goals in my home and community. I am so grateful for how they have helped me grow my faith and create a relationship with the Lord.”

Jesus has always been with me, in my life, but in the background.

Living my life with so much different influence from family and friends had left me confused, led me in the wrong direction, and even gotten me into trouble.

From all outward perspectives it may have even seemed like I “had it all together” but at the end of the day I was left with my thoughts and my problems, I was internally a disaster, and now…it’s all reversed… literally… my house can be falling apart, my life unorganized and I certainly do not even pretend to “have it all together”  But that’s okay… it’s not a big deal… because now, at the end of my day I have Jesus…to direct my thoughts to, someone to ask for direction who I know would never steer me wrong…and now I feel so great.

The thought of going to church used to be intimidating to me, I had no knowledge of the gospel or of God’s love, I thought there was no way all of my past present and future sins could be forgiven… but God does…every single day.

After a long drive and about a thousand questions later my husband had given me the reassurance that God is what I believe in and God is what I need. Then soon after that I just showed up at this great church, and instantly I knew I was surrounded by great people.  It’s hard to explain what I saw in all of you that day, but I knew I was in the right place, and I knew I needed some of what you guys were getting.

These past few months I have absorbed as much as I can from being at church, in life group and from all of you and I still am learning.  It is an amazing feeling to belong to God, to be unconditionally loved by my father in heaven, and to know I have been forgiven every single day.

My children have been some of my greatest guides to God; my daughter’s faith amazes me.  Jesus said “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” To try to live like his children, be humble as children are and love as strong as children love is a powerful thing, and it is what God wants from me, to live like his child and for me to have faith and trust in our father.
